RASim overall progress - SG (September 2015)

Zygote model was used for this simulation, the needle insertion module (basic integration) is there. The ultrasound Module has been integrated and running.

Ultrasound Simulator Closer Look - SG (September 2015)

This video shows a closer look at the Ultrasound View, The Zygote model used to generate the US has an incorrect anatomy as it overlaps a lot and causes such views.

RAAs (SINTEF) (September 2015)

The video shows real-time automatic:

  • 2D annotation of key landmarks in the US image stream
  • 3D reconstruction of the femoral artery from US data
  • 3D registration of a model (just the bone here) to the US images

RWTH-VR (September 2015)

The video shows how the cross-section of the models looks like:

  • The material parameters must be adjusted. I increased the overall brightness and sharpness for video purposes only, so that structures could more clearly be seen.
  • There is an issue with the probeĀ“s transparency and it sometimes looks as if it stood behind the model. Please do not let this confuse you.
  • The image to the right shows the structures as they appear in the model. Some overlaps are still present, but they are very few and not critical compared to the zygote model.

PBU (September 2015)

The video shows a short video of the current simulator

  • Once the needle is white, it means a location is feasible for insertion (This is due to mesh size, so only mesh vertices are suitable for insertion).
  • You can observe skin deformation during my insertion.
  • I increase the electricity on the panel, you can observe some muscle motions on the right side of the thigh.
  • As I approach the nerve, I decrease electricity and it still can activate the nerve, which means it has located nerve proximity.
